FAITH NOT SIGHT

2 Corinthians 5:7

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." ESV

Our God designed us with five senses: sight, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touch. This design for us is to physically survive in this world by giving us information about our surroundings in order to understand our world and form our thoughts about it. When we are born again through faith in Jesus Christ, we come alive spiritually. God's design for us to give us information and understanding in the spiritual realm is the Holy Spirit. Being human, we are prone to allowing our physical senses to guide us even in spiritual things. This results in spiritual and physical confusion and our questioning God. It's much like we would feel riding a camel in the streets of downtown New York city. It takes staying the the Word of God, prayer, and communion with the Lord and other Christians to keep walking out our spiritual life by faith. Then while we use our physical senses in our everyday earthly lives, the Holy Spirit uses the information gathered by them to see God working and to trust Him to see us through it all.

Heavenly Father, we give You thanks for the wonderful design of our physical bodies to understand the world in which we live. Even more, we give You honor and glory for life in the Spirit through faith. Help us to walk in that faith always, and not rely on our physical senses. It is the spiritual that is eternal and of utmost importance for us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
