How many times
have we said something without thinking, just blurting it out, then regretting
it? How often have we been quick to spill out words in anger that we don't
really mean? We are accountable for every word we speak. Words spoken to another
can never be taken back. If we will give our Lord control of our words and stay
alert to what we say, He will help us to speak words that encourage, lift up,
and provide a positive atmosphere for those around us. The Word says those who
speak what's on their mind without thinking are worse than fools.
Heavenly Father,
we ask Your forgiveness for those times we have spoken in haste and have caused
hurt and problems for others and ourselves. Give us the power through Your Holy
Spirit to speak in ways that are pleasing to You. We pray this in the name of
Jesus, Amen.
