DIVIDED KINGDOM

Mark 3:24

"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." NIV

"And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." KJV

The Scribes, Pharisees, and teachers of the law accused Jesus of casting a demon out of a boy by the power of Satan. Jesus' response to them was that a kingdom divided against itself cannot last. In this situation, Jesus gave a parable which let the teachers know that the strong man is Satan. His house is the world of sin. His possessions are people who are imprisoned in his house. The ones who carry out Satan's destructive activities are demons. By casting the demon from the young man, Jesus showed that His power is superior to Satan's and was from the Holy Spirit. Jesus' purpose is to expose Satan's prison, overpower him and set free those who have been held captive in his prison of sin.

Heavenly Father, how we thank You that Jesus defeated Satan ultimately at the cross. We stand in need of the Holy Spirit's discernment so that we will know Satan's tricks and how he is still trying to imprison us so that we may go to destruction with him. Help us be open to the Holy Spirit and His unifying character that we may all be one with You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
