PRIDE

Obadiah 1:4

"Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord." NIV

"Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord." KJV

Some Christians have fallen into a deception believing that if we have material blessings we are being favored and blessed by God. And, if we are struggling and having hard times, God is punishing us. God's favor and disfavor are not measured by material things and successes. In fact, those who are rich and successful tend to get focused on material things and become proud of their own achievements. The Word tells us that pride comes before a fall. And we can fall from any level. The more God blesses us, the more we must walk in humility. If we don't, God will bring us down and humble us.

Heavenly Father, we are aware that we are guilty of being proud and take credit for the many things we have accomplished. Forgive us Lord, and help us to remember from where our help comes. We pray and seek you in humility that we may know you and learn to be more like you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

So true for individuals, but also true for nations. I fear for the comeuppance we shall receive.

It is so important to cleanse ourselves with prayer and repentance the wellspring of the heart. God is faithful to cleanse us from unrighteousness when we confess. Thanks for this post, it helped me.

Hey that is such a cool picture. Yep I've been humbled many times but you know what? God does it to me because he loves me and is disciplining me for my own good, He wants me in his kingdom. Thank you lord, I love you too.
