We all find ourselves eager and ready to give our opinion about others. However, more often we are making a judgment about someone rather than giving an opinion. God alone, is the only Judge. If we casually make a judgment about someone, we are making ourselves out to be equal to God. That's the very mistake Satan made.
Heavenly Father, we acknowledge you as the only Lawgiver and Judge. We ask for a pure heart and discerning spirit so we do not sin by judging others. In Jesus' name.
Read James 4:12
"There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?" (NIV)

I first of all want to say that I agree with you in general, and we are so often far too judgmental towards others when we should simply be extending the love of God to them.
That said, I also think that while we should never condemn others, making accurate assessments of other people and their character, or lack thereof is a very important thing, especially within the church. Matthew 7:15-23 gives us a pretty clear picture of how to see into someone, to see who they really are, not who they pretend to be. And I think this is absolutely vital to be able to do, especially in regards to relationships. What are your thoughts in this regard?
Christ-Blade, thanks so much for your open perspective. I think the difference here in light of the passage from Matthew, is that of judgment vs. discernment. Evil is very subtle and appears as though it is good. Without discernment, the Holy Spirit revealing to us that this is not of God, we would be in danger of being deceived. On the other hand, judging others is pertaining to those outside the church. The Bible says that we are to stay away from those who call themselves Christians and yet live openly sinful lives. That is taking over God's position as judge. This is explained well in 1 Corinthians 5:9-13.
